Colour is the most powerful and compelling design tool of all and is the single most important element in creating interior spaces that reflect mood and style. Whether the colours are dynamic or subdued hues, they must work in sync with each other and create an attractive effect. However as much as colour theory will help determine the most visually appealing colour combination, usually the final colour choice is wholly unique and becomes the most indicative reflection of personal taste.

Use the colour wheel to help plan the overall scheme of a room. It is important to decide which colours work well together, whether they are toning (using one colour but in varying tones), harmonious (colours that sit next to one another on the colour wheel or very close to it) or complementary (opposite to one another on the colour wheel). It is also worth remembering that a colour scheme should be balanced by introducing some neutral colours such as cream or white.

Deciding on the colour scheme is the starting point for any interior project and ultimately the success of the end result hinges on colour choice and mix.

Here at Ulster Carpets, our design team dedicates a wealth of resources to the many nuances of colour such as palette, gradient, weight and intensity, all considered in great detail to ensure the overall impact of the finished design is perfect.
