Watercolours

Inspiration for design is all around us.  Nature, and the spaces provided by our urban environments can offer the necessary imagery to inspire contemporary interior design.

“Modern culture has a thirst for natural and de-constructed forms.  Designs which take influence from natural effects (as seen in watercolour, weather-beaten, botanical or geological imagery) tie in with this movement and allow carpets to be used in associated contemporary settings.”  Anthony Hickman,  Ulster Carpets Head of Design

Watercolours is an example of how texture and unique, organic shape can be infused in design.  These unpredictable and unimpeded shapes and images provide instantly recognisable patterns that can be made unique to each space.  This demand for highly sophisticated design is particularly applicable to the flexibility and modern manufacturing processes found in Ulster’s bespoke Axminster carpet.
