Cutting Line Operator - Ulster North East

With the exciting creation of a new warehouse at Ulster North East for our carpet storage, cutting and despatch, Ulster Carpets have a vacancy for a Process Operator for our Cutting Line.

Reporting to the Warehouse Group Leader, the Cutting Line Operator will safely and efficiently operate specialist automated cutting equipment to prepare carpet orders to the required length and specification.

The role includes loading and unloading carpet rolls, producing full-width lengths and split-width cuts, checking allocated stock and ensuring completed orders meet the required quality and accuracy standards. The postholder will also operate forklift trucks, complete basic equipment care and report faults promptly.

This is a hands-on operational role within a high-performing warehouse where safety, quality, productivity and efficient use of materials are key priorities.

CRITERIA

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • Experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, production or similar operational environment.

  • Ability to operate machinery safely and follow standard operating procedures.

  • Experience operating forklift trucks and a current recognised certificate, or the ability to obtain the required certification before operating independently.

  • Ability to read and interpret order information, measurements and product specifications accurately with good numerical skills and confidence working with dimensions and quantities.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

  • Ability to identify stock discrepancies and record information accurately.

  • Basic competence using warehouse, stock-control or production systems.

  • Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

  • This role is manual in nature so applicants should have the ability to carry out the physical requirements of the role safely, including working with carpet rolls and handling equipment.

In addition, the following desirable criteria may be considered:

  • Experience in the carpet, flooring, textiles or roll-goods industry.

  • Experience operating automated cutting, converting or production-line equipment or cutting materials to specified lengths, widths or order requirements.

  • Experience checking and amending stock allocations within a warehouse-management system.

  • Experience working to quality, productivity, waste and efficiency targets and knowledge of basic equipment-care or operator-maintenance principles.

  • Experience working in a new warehouse or operational start-up environment.

This role is paid at an excellent rate and offers a vibrant environment where your skills make a tangible impact. We value proactive team players who are eager to learn new techniques and contribute to continuous improvement. If you thrive in a hands-on setting with a focus on precision and quality, we want to hear from you!

Interviews will be arranged on an on-going basis until the position is filled.
