Raffles Boston

With a décor that has an emphasis on art and sculptural design, The Art of Ulster concept proved perfect for Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences.

As the first Raffles property in North America, the impressive hotel includes an exciting combination of signature hotel services, including elegant and lively public spaces, distinct food and beverage venues; a two-storey sky lobby perched high above Copley Square; a stunning rooftop garden terrace and lounge; and expansive meeting and pre-function spaces.

Channelling a city that reflects the new while respecting the old, Stonehill Taylor’s interior design approach blends seamlessly with the Back Bay neighborhood.

While the décor features materials and patterns reminiscent of Boston’s iconic history, and in particular architecture, an emphasis on art and sculptural design throughout the property achieves a revolutionary yet timeless feel.

Our bespoke designs feature in the corridors, meeting rooms, both the Garen Suite and the Gallery Suite as well as the Grand and Junior Ballrooms along with the associated pre-function areas.

Through all of these areas, our designs emphasise the botanical influences found in the surrounding Back Bay area.

This approach is about emphasising the theme created by the hospitality design experts at Stonehill Taylor and it also reflects the unique sense of place that Raffles is famous for across the world.

It also illustrates the Art of Ulster concept of transforming the blank canvas of a floor into a statement design. This approach is unique to Ulster and is only possible due to our combination of world-class designers and patented weaving technology.

Mondrian London Shoreditch

A unique five-star hotel in the heart of London’s creative and cultural hub, Mondrian London Shoreditch has its own distinctive vibes.

The Mondrian brand always seeks to give guests a flavour of the local area and London Shoreditch embraces the style of one of the East End’s more fun-loving neighbourhoods.

We embraced this philosophy when designing the custom rugs found in both the suites and guestrooms as well as in Laurel’s on the Roof, the Member’s Club and Bibo Restaurant.

In the suites and guestrooms, the rug design adds a botanical feel to the exposed brick and eclectic artwork which give a simple yet sophisticated feel.

For Laurel’s on the Roof and BiBo Dani Garcia, our designs are a twist on the lively, urban atmosphere and the vibrant space.

All of the rugs complement the imaginative transformation created by Goddard Littlefair and this project continues our long-standing relationship with this highly experienced team of talented architects and designers.

Four Seasons Minneapolis

Four Seasons Minneapolis and Ulster Carpets proved to be the perfect partnership as we designed and manufactured a wide range of carpets and rugs for this beautiful hotel.

Located just two blocks from the Mississippi and close to North Loop shopping and entertainment in downtown Minneapolis, the Four Seasons toasts the city’s history while setting the stage for the future.

As Ulster Carpets has been operating for 85 years, we understand the importance of respecting the past while also building towards the future. That was evidenced by the high standards of customer service, that the Ulster brand has always been renowned for, coupled with the latest in design and weaving expertise.

The custom designs of our carpets and rugs throughout the Four Seasons Minneapolis creates a sense of continuity while giving each area of the hotel its own sense identity.

That is clear when you compare the designs in the ballroom, boardroom and meeting rooms where a linear style dominates with the understated elegance of the carpets and rugs in the public areas, such as the pre-function lounge and lobby.

The custom rugs in the Spa and the Presidential Suite follow similar themes, adding to the sense of sophistication that guests associate with the Four Seasons brand.

That the various designs work in harmony is testament to the design skills at Ulster Carpets. Working in collaboration with the talented team at Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Assoc, our designers were able to ensure that the colourways and patterns on the carpets and rugs complemented the overall interior design style of the hotel.

By blending together these various elements in a subtle yet visually engaging way, the carpets and rugs create a firm foundation to build the entire interior design around.

The Goring

The Goring – the only hotel in the world to be granted a Royal Warrant for hospitality services – now has custom-designed carpet from fellow Royal Warrant holder, Ulster Carpets.

There is even a connection between The Goring and Ulster Carpets when it comes to sheep.

The Goring Sheep are almost as iconic as the hotel itself. The late George Goring introduced the large wooden sheep with woolly coats after guests remarked on the country feel of the hotel. These famous sheep now sit upon wool-rich carpet, designed and manufactured by Ulster Carpets in the UK.

Our custom carpets can be found in the guestrooms, corridors and grand stairs of The Goring.

Located in the exclusive Belgravia district, the hotel is famed for its classical style. From the Linley designed Dining Room celebrating the very best of British food, to the artistry of the hand-woven Gainsborough Silks which adorn the walls so gracefully, The Goring is a wonder to behold.

This attention to detail is also reflected in carpet designs that have been created to match the quintessentially British style of The Goring.

Oceania Vista

The first of Oceania Cruises’ Allura Class vessels, Oceania Vista is a decadent masterpiece.

The elegant and luxurious style is reflected in a plethora of bespoke carpets and rugs created by Ulster Carpets throughout this first-in-class ship where the distinct style of Studio Dado is evident at every turn.

Setting new standards for comfort and residential-style luxury, the stunning interiors and harmonious spaces reflect a fresh, new perspective through organic elements inspired by the land and sea.

Our designs help to create an overarching theme that will be replicated throughout the Allura Class, with the use of recurring patterns and tones giving Vista a clear identity while still matching the successful ethos of Oceania Cruises.

In many of the common guest areas, our designs capture the sense of drama created by Studio Dado. This can be found right across the distinctive alleyway designs that define each section of Vista through to the natural, overlayed design in the main dining room.

Common colour banks add to the sense of identity while still giving each area its own distinctive character. This can be referenced in the eye-catching corridor carpet designs in Horizon Lounge and the inset curved rugs on Atrium Deck 5.

The understated neutrals and greys used in the Oceania and Vista Suites and the Owners’ Suites portray the residential style to provide a restful and relaxing feel.

Being able to create such an array of designs that perfectly interconnect is one of the many reasons why cruise customers turn to the expertise of Ulster Carpets.

Custom rug by Ulster Carpets for Radisson RED Liverpool

Radisson RED Liverpool

Radisson RED Liverpool blends together history, legacy, and eclectic design.

With a 1960s-style scooter and sidecar, a submarine sculpture and bespoke art pieces paying homage to the city’s best-known faces, buildings and culture, our carpets and rugs were designed to complement rather than take centre stage.

Koncept ID took their inspiration from the building’s stunning and distinctive architecture to combine the elegance of the Grade II-listed property with the contemporary brand design direction of Radisson RED.

Previously known as the North Western Halls, the iconic building dates back to 1871 and was originally designed by locally-born Alfred Waterhouse – the architect behind London’s Natural History Museum and Manchester Town Hall.

Providing a focal point for guests on their arrival, the thoughtful renovation includes a six-meter-high, 19th Century stained-glass window above a grand stone staircase that is adorned with Ulster carpet.

More than 792 hours were spent refurbishing the grand staircase and world-renowned polishers added the finishing touches to the 94-meter handrail. Our carpet design layers organic textures over an underlying geometric herringbone pattern that matches the lobby flooring and complements the architectural features and eye-catching artwork.

The theme continues as this style follows through into the guestroom rugs, where a variation the misty, whimsical cloud overlay design adds a sense of balance within this relaxing setting.

Our work on Radisson RED showcases how effective our bespoke designs can work on both carpets and rugs. The different rug designs in the lobby and guestrooms alongside the staircase carpet match the essence of the venue that will leave an indelible mark on guests visiting this famous city.

Tom Flanagan Karttunen, Area Senior Vice President, Northern & Western Europe at Radisson Hotel Group, says: “The Radisson RED brand and the city of Liverpool are the perfect match, both representing fun and vibrancy with strong links to music, art, and design. The building has undergone an incredible transformation. It’s one of the first buildings that visitors to the city will see when they arrive so we’ve worked hard to create an unforgettable experience for both locals and tourists.”

The Ebrington Hotel & Spa

The home of Ireland’s only completely intact historic Walled City, award-winning museums, some amazing outdoor festivals and Derry Girls has been boosted with the opening of a new hotel.

From bespoke Axminster, Graphic Tufted and Contract Stock, we have provided the complete carpet requirements at The Ebrington Hotel & Spa in Derry-Londonderry.

Opened in 1841 as a naval base, Ebrington was known as HMS Sea Eagle during World War Two and played an important part of the North Atlantic Command. It was later an Army base but has now been completely transformed with the refurbishment of the famous Ebrington clocktower and five buildings at the former military base.

This history played into the eye-catching interior design by expert interior designer, Eamon Carberry and the strong architectural style created by RPP Architects. He worked closely with our designers based in Portadown to create a distinctive map and compass in the Oak Room restaurant carpet.

This set the tone for a successful collaborative approach with Eamon Carberry that reflects the luxurious style of modern hotel.

Subtle detail in the corridor carpets evokes a timeless elegance that is offset by the strong use of linear colour in the graphic tufted bedrooms carpets. The Clocktower bedrooms retain the same luxury levels but, to make them distinctly different, Open Spaces Queenstown Awning from our Contract Stock Collection was selected.

These different designs harmonise perfectly together to enhance the signature style of The Ebrington Hotel & Spa.

ASPIRE LOUNGE

Be inspired by Aspire

We are accustomed to taking design to new heights and now we have been able to put that to the test by creating a bespoke carpet for the new Aspire Lounge at George Best Belfast City Airport.

As part of a £1.2million investment, DV8 Designs set out to create a truly premium lounge service in line with the Aspire vision, whilst also integrating the unique geographical characteristics of Belfast and the surrounding region.

The world-famous Giant’s Causeway has influenced the tile flooring and LED lighting and to offset this our carpet design is influenced by thunderclouds.

When discussing options for the Aspire Lounge, the Arcus design from our Natura collection caught the eye of Jess Sutherland at DV8 Design. This design imitates the turbulent nature of clouds that form at the edge of a thunderstorm and Jess felt that it perfectly complemented the theme she wanted to achieve.

Using this design as a basis, we worked closely with Jess to bring in a touch of lightness and some much-needed pops of colour. This reimagining delivers the warm colours that conjure the required feelings of rest and relaxation that DV8 Design set out to achieve.

Graham Allen, Head of Lounges UK&I, concurs – “We are excited to unveil our new Aspire Lounge at George Best Belfast City Airport which showcases the Aspire brand and the rich culture of Belfast and beyond.

“The new lounge offers business travellers, families and individuals a welcoming, relaxing and energising experience before their flight, in a comfortable lounge that is recognisably Aspire, with a distinct sense of place.

“Guests can enjoy an enhanced food and beverage offering, work from purpose-built booths, or relax and soak up the view of the airfield and the surroundings.”

Ballygally Castle | Bespoke Carpet

Ballygally Castle

Perched on the tip of the famous Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland, Ballygally Castle is a stunning 17th Century Castle enjoyed by hotel guests from around the world.

Recognised as one of the Top 30 Best Hotels in the Rest of the UK in the prestigious 2022 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, this unique hotel overlooks golden sands and stunning Irish coastline.

There has been a long-term connection between Ulster Carpets and Hastings Hotels – the owners of Ballygally Castle – and we were delighted to continue that relationship as part of this £100,000 refurbishment.

A spokesperson for Hastings Hotels said, “At Hastings Hotels we are delighted to work with Ulster Carpets across our six properties and most recently they supplied luxury carpets throughout Ballygally Castle as part of a £100,000 investment programme.

“The fabric and furnishings in every room of a hotel is of utmost importance and we are proud to work in partnership to create a visually striking experience for our guests and support the growth of this fantastic local company.”

This relationship with Hastings Hotels is indicative of the partnership approach that we take with every project.

Our world-class designers work closely with our customers to meet their specific requirements. The skills of our designers are matched by the versatility of our patented weaving technology that allows complete freedom in terms of colour and design.

That was important at Hastings Hotels as we looked to match the carpet design with the distinctive style within Ballygally Castle, including the renovation of Shaw’s Lunge and the addition of the new Seaview Suite.

Uniquely shaped by its imposing architecture, the Castle is bursting with rooms full of character and charm and the different carpet designs and colour palette clearly completement this.
