Fallsview Casino Resort, Niagara Falls, Canada

The Art of Ulster is in full view at Canada’s largest gaming resort facility, Fallsview Casino Resort.

In collaboration with interior design firm, Moncur Design Associates, Ulster has designed, planned and crafted colourful, exciting and vibrant custom carpets. Moncur Design Associates has collaborated with Ulster on many other projects, including The Westin New Orleans Canal Place, Caesars Windsor Casino and The Westin Nova Scotian.

This resort, situated on a cliff overlooking world-famous Horseshoe Falls, boasts an impressive 200,000 square feet of gaming action.  Our bespoke carpets cover a gaming floor that incorporates more than 3,000 slot machines, 130 gaming tables, and a high-limit gaming area.

Bright and bold florals dominate the design of the carpet throughout the gaming areas. The designs complement the resort’s Belle Époque style to create a beautiful and complimentary interior design aesthetic.

Ulster’s carpets are also featured in the two main food and beverage outlets. These include the 21 Club, the resort’s Steak & Seafood restaurant, and the Grand Buffet, a 750-seat restaurant with spectacular views of Horseshoe Falls. Visitors and guests also experience the beauty of Ulster carpets as they travel through the corridors of the resort’s 30-storey hotel.

The carpets for these areas utilise more contemporary patterns, yet all of the carpet designs work together to provide continuity throughout the resort.

Ulster has designed and manufactured custom carpets for leading casinos and projects across North America. We understand the unique demands required for these venues, and their need for bespoke luxury carpet that fuses together beautiful artistry along with the essential elements of durability and functionality.

Fallsview Casino is a perfect example of design, planning and manufacturing coming together to create unique solutions that we refer to as the Art of Ulster.

Ulster Carpets Arthaus Hotel, Dublin

Arthaus Hotel, Dublin

What better place for the Art of Ulster to be on display than a hotel that honours the spirit of the world-famous Bauhaus School of Art and Design!

Located near St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin city centre, Arthaus Hotel is a unique boutique hotel that exhibits a rich tapestry of art and design by a series of artists, craftsmen and skilled workers. Ulster Carpets is now part of the artistry within the hotel.

With some of the world’s best carpet designers, we create what we call the Art of Ulster – a bespoke luxury carpet that fuses art and functionality together.

For this project, we once again worked in partnership with interior design and architecture firm, Clarke & Whiteman, to create an eclectic range of designs to match this contemporary setting. Our carpets feature in the Boutique, Superior and Executive rooms as well as the corridors.

The statement by Wassily Kandinsky, a prominent artist at Bauhaus, which said, “Colour is a power which directly influences the soul” inspired our designers as they showcased Ulster’s unique ability to create unrivalled depth of colour within a carpet.

The layered, overlapping linear design embodies the hotel’s unique style. Building on this is a colour palette based around soft coral and misty grey tones that work wonderfully against the gold, brass and walnut accents of the fixtures and furniture.

The Bauhaus philosophy of combining aesthetics with everyday function is also to the fore in Ulster’s carpets. As well as looking impressive, our carpets also incorporate the the essential factors of sustainability, serviceability and practicality.

Ulster Carpets - Buxton Crescent

Buxton Crescent Hotel & Spa, Derbyshire

Ulster Carpets have created a series of striking custom carpet designs that match the stunning revitalisation of Buxton Crescent Hotel & Spa.

Built in the 1780s by the 5th Duke of Devonshire and designed by John Carr of York, Buxton Crescent is one of the most architecturally significant buildings in England.

After years of decline, this important landmark has now been restored and becomes the first UK property for Ensana Hotels, one of Europe’s leading operators of health spas.

Think Curious was tasked with restoring the building’s Georgian style and it is this concept that features prominently across a variety of carpet designs created by Ulster.

COLLABORATIVE

The collaborative approach that is central to our success is evident in the continuity of design and colour throughout a building that is as architecturally distinctive on the inside as it is on the outside.

The staircase, corridors, library and drawing room, which feature the same sophisticated design in a varying colour palette, are the perfect example of how the rich texture of an Ulster carpet can work in harmony with distinctive architectural features.

That balance can also be found in the impactful design of the Blue Room. Here, the ornate painted ceiling and chandelier are accentuated by this luxurious flooring.

Playing with scale and transition, the floral aesthetic in the lounge areas continue the theme of bold designs. This theme is given a more modern twist in the Spa Café, which occupies a new floor above the original pools.

Finally, the 81 guestrooms and suites are steeped in history and continue the organic feel with a calming, understated design of earthy tones.

Ulster’s world-class designers love the challenge of creating a sense of drama that is befitting of such a grand hotel. The designs also took into consideration the crescent shape of the building, which helped the fitting process carried out by Van Page Flooring.

Hilton Prague

A full renovation of the guest rooms and corridors at the award-winning Hilton Prague includes bespoke carpet designs by Ulster Carpets.

Popular with both holiday travellers and business executives, the impressive Hilton Prague is centrally located on the banks of the Vltava River and offers stunning views over the city’s impressive skyline.

The renovation of the nearly 800 guest rooms has created a fresh new look for the hotel, with Ulster’s tailored design playing an integral role in bringing the various interior elements together.

The definition of culture and style, the hushed colour palette for the new designs coordinate perfectly with its surroundings to create a true sense of calm and relaxation. The delicate, organic pattern is emphasised by Ulster’s unique ability to add depth and texture that enhances the feeling of luxury.

An equally important element of the design process has been creating a sense of continuity with the rest of the hotel while matching the high standards expected at a Hilton.

The ability to carefully balance these different elements is why Ulster remains the leading choice of the hospitality sector across the world. Our combination of flair and flexibility is possible because of the patented weaving technology that we use on all our carpets that gives our designers the freedom to incorporate an enhanced spectrum of colour into every carpet.

The quality of the Ulster’s bespoke carpets is matched by the strong relationships that have been built up with interior design firms, architectural studios, managers and owners across the world.

With an understanding that no two clients are alike, the highly experienced sales team at Ulster provides expert advice and guidance to meet a client’s specific requirements on design and durability.

Suvretta House, St Moritz

Known as the Grand Dame of the Swiss Alps, guests have been enjoying the delights of Suvretta House for well over a century.

So when it came to creating bespoke carpets that matched the period charm and authentic features of this storybook castle, Sue Freeman Interior Design turned to another company that has a long-term heritage for quality – Ulster Carpets.

Our 80-plus years’ experience in carpet manufacturing meant we were the perfect choice to create custom carpets for the corridors, lobby and public areas of a hotel that is set amidst the breath-taking beauty of St Moritz and the Engadine Valley.

Having welcomed guests such as King Farouk of Egypt, Gregory Peck and Eva Perón, Suvretta House – named  Best Hotel In Switzerland for 2020 in Karl Wild’s ‘The 100 Best Hotels in Switzerland’ guide – has its own unique charm.

Our designers met the challenge of providing the hotel with a refreshed new look that still remains true to the decadent style and sophistication of Suvretta House. The neutral tones and detailed patterns echo the past and provide a foundation that the rest of the interior design is based upon.

This approach creates a real sense of place that is in keeping with the enchanting backdrop of the Swiss Alps.

It is these types of challenges that our sales and design teams enjoy. Having worked on leading hotels, casinos and cruise liners across the world, Ulster has built up a reputation for providing custom carpets that combine style with quality that matches the unique requirements of each project.

This design and manufacturing expertise is matched by the highest levels of service from our highly experienced sales team who are committed to meeting the needs of your project.

bespoke rug designs at Hilton Vienna Park Lobby

Hilton Vienna Park

Ulster’s ability to create a variety of unique bespoke designs that seamlessly connect one area to the next is on show at the refurbished Hilton Vienna Park in Austria.

From the contemporised open-plan lobby, the impressive executive lounges and the beautiful ballrooms through to the stylised guestrooms and the luxurious penthouse suites, our bespoke carpets and rugs feature a variety of designs that all retain the hotel’s overall essence.

This project marks another successful collaboration with luxury interior design studio, Goddard Littlefair, who again demonstrated their renowned attention to detail as part of this impressive double-digit million-Euro refurbishment and extension programme.

Adjacent to Stadtpark and overlooking the Wien River, Hilton Vienna Park enjoys a wonderful city-centre location that has inspired a design that celebrates the beauty of Viennese culture. This influence has led to a series of distressed patterns coupled with geometric designs across the lobby and executive lounges to create a signature style that is found throughout the hotel.

Differing guestroom carpet styles have retained that sense of continuity by placing an emphasis on the layered texture of an Ulster carpet. Bold, linear patterns are tempered by perfectly coordinated soft furnishing and fabrics that epitomise the quietly unobtrusive detailing of Hilton Vienna Park.

This project demonstrates how Ulster’s dynamic designers can create bespoke carpet solutions that perfectly integrate with your design philosophy and are infused with your inspiration. By talking, listening and understanding, Ulster’s designers have been able to build strong relationships with interior designers, architects, specifiers and owners across the world that have resulted in stunning ‘Art of Ulster’ designs.

With a long-standing reputation for providing the superior durability that is essential within the hospitality sector, Ulster’s patented weaving system, PSYLO™ continues to put us at a distinct advantage.

Combining originality with excellence, PSYLO™ enables carpet to be manufactured to a greater degree of design intricacy, an enhanced spectrum of colour and at an unrivalled level of efficiency.

Alongside excellent service delivered by an experienced team, Ulster also ensures that the essential factors of sustainability, serviceability and practicality are incorporated into every carpet.

Four Seasons Hotel Doha

The reimagined grandeur of the Four Seasons Doha radiates with Qatari heritage – a theme that is reflected in the bespoke carpet designs by Ulster Carpets.

The stunning 237-room hotel is located on a prominent location on Doha’s waterfront and this meticulous refurbishment by Pierre-Yves Rochon builds upon its distinctive architecture by adding elements that showcase Middle Eastern influences and Qatari traditions.

Ulster incorporated this inspiration into the bespoke carpet design for the suites, guestrooms, corridors and public areas. A soothing spectrum of blues and beiges is central to the overall theme and our designers have combined this with intricate detailing influenced by zellige Islamic mosaic patterns.

The use of this sophisticated colour palette is reflective of the hotel’s beautiful surroundings, echoing the beautiful sun, sand and sea of Doha. Ranging from pale to rich, variations on these colours and the design means we have been able to tailor each carpet to match the specific aesthetic of different areas while still retaining an overall continuity.

Four Seasons Doha represents the latest in a series of collaborations on projects across the world with the multi-award winning Pierre-Yves Rochon. Past projects have included the Four Seasons George V in Paris, The Savoy in London and, most recently, The St. Regis Rome.

This is another example of how Ulster have developed a highly successful partnership approach that results in long-term collaborations with the world’s leading designers and hotels. Our focus on customer service is matched by a dedication to bespoke design that results in flooring works of art.

A result of years of fine tuning our craft, this approach has helped us to develop patented weaving processes that offer endless design possibilities coupled with quality carpet that incorporates the essential factors of sustainability, serviceability and practicality.

Budapest Marriott

Harmony is the central theme of the two-phase refurbishment of the Budapest Marriott Hotel.

Specialist interior design company, Twenty2degrees Partnership, not only placed an emphasis on creating an aesthetic that aligns with the brand expectations of a Marriott hotel but they also provided local context and a connection to a historic city that is as vibrant as it is creative.

Ulster’s bespoke carpet designs are featured throughout the public areas as well as the ballroom and meeting rooms. Each one works in perfect harmony with the intuitive design favoured by the creative styles that are typical of Twenty2degrees.

As the Budapest Marriott Hotel is set beside the banks of the Danube River, overlooking the capital’s treasured landmarks such as the Chain Bridge and Buda Castle, it is fitting that the design provides a high level of local context.

The hotel features Marriott’s signature Greatroom concept that harmonises the reception, lobby lounge, bar and restaurant into a single open space. For this area, the work of Hungary’s renowned Bauhaus designer, Marcel Breuer, and artist, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, provided the inspiration for Ulster’s specially designed carpets which complement the refined-yet-elaborate decorative screens throughout the Greatroom.

This inspiration is extended further in the meeting and banqueting spaces that boast stunning views across Budapest. In these areas, Ulster’s designers have created continuity with ‘The Great Room’ concept by retaining elements of the Bauhaus design approach that offers a combination of beauty and practicality.

Combining beauty and practicality in carpet design is an area in which Ulster Carpets excel. By offering unlimited design opportunities alongside the essential practicality factors, our custom carpets deliver on the perfect balance between artistic flair and serviceability.

Seagoe Hotel, Portadown

Like Ulster Carpets, the Seagoe Hotel is synonymous with Portadown, so when the hotel went through a near total refurbishment it made sense for the two to work together.

Crossroad Properties bought over the Seagoe in June 2018 and since then have spent well over £1million on a transformation of the 34 bedroom hotel. Central to the new look are bespoke carpets from Ulster in the public areas, corridors, guest rooms, meeting rooms, ballroom and restaurant.

Working in partnership with Moore Interior Design, Ulster’s design team has again helped to redefine the latest refurbishment of the Seagoe.

When guests arrive, they are struck by an impressive carpet design that flows like water down the feature staircase and through the corridors and public areas. This design is replicated in a new bright colour palette in the Upper and Lower Gallery, which are part of the venue’s dedicated wedding and conference facilities.  These strong plum tones continue into The Oaks – the main function hall that caters for between 80 to 400 people – where the carpet design is defined by a strong linear border and a classic aesthetic that adds to the luxury of the setting.

In the guestrooms, the natural tones with echoes of a herringbone design in the guestrooms perfectly complement the Seagoe’s contemplative and relaxing atmosphere

While 75% of carpets manufactured at our headquarters in Portadown are exported abroad, this project reflects how Ulster Carpets remain committed to the hospitality sector in the UK and Ireland and how local projects are benefitting from the company’s global experience.

As Ulster have regularly been involved with designing and manufacturing bespoke carpets for the Seagoe, the project also reflects how we are committed to building lasting partnerships. This partnership building was further emphasised by Crossroad Properties working with Ulster Carpets to create bespoke carpet for their Waterfoot Hotel in Derry-Londonderry.

Strand Palace Hotel, London

The Art Deco heritage of the iconic Strand Palace Hotel in London takes centre stage in the eye-catching flooring designs from Ulster Carpets.

Embracing the strong sense of style and sophistication epitomised by the 1920’s era, our custom carpets adorn the refurbished lobby and public areas as well as the Haxells Restaurant and Bar.

Opened in 1909, the beautiful central London hotel still retains original Art Deco touches beneath its contemporary styling. Working alongside leading international design practice, Trevillion, Ulster’s designers created distinctive custom carpets characterised by the precise, boldly delineated geometric shapes and strong colours indicative of the 1920’s.

Guests at the Strand Palace Hotel receive the perfect welcome when they enter the new lobby and public areas, with Ulster’s carpet designs providing a sense of place that represents the venue’s elegance.

This continues in Haxells Restaurant and Bar, where the modern slant on the hotel’s Art Deco heritage wonderfully blends the entire interior design concept together.

With an understanding that no two clients are alike, the highly experienced sales team at Ulster provides expert advice and guidance to meet a client’s specific requirements on design and durability.

We have combined our design and manufacturing excellence with the highest levels of customer service. The quality of Ulster’s bespoke carpets is matched by the strong relationships that have been built up with interior design firms, architectural studios, managers and owners across the world and is one of the many reasons why so many prestigious hotels, casinos and cruise ships work with the experienced team at Ulster Carpets.
