The Story

Ulster Carpets was delighted to work with Studio Dado in Miami to create stunning axminster carpets for Oceania Cruises’ renovation of Insignia. Described as a dramatic re-inspiration process, Insignia is the first of the Oceania ‘R Class’ ships to be completely redesigned. Working closely with Studio Dado and the Oceania Cruises team, Ulster designed and manufactured beautiful bespoke carpets for the Grand Dining Room, Martinis, Oceania @ Sea, Casino, corridors, elevator lobbies and various other public areas.

A refreshed colour palette of soft marine and neutral tones, used together with a geometric latticework design creates a contemporary and relaxed feel throughout the ship. Hues of blue are carried through Martinis and the Casino areas, emphasising a linear pattern which nods to the modern, art deco theme.

Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations for Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Franco Semeraro explained that “Ulster‘s huge selection of colors along with their exceptional and talented design team helped bring not just our architect’s vision, but this entire immense project to life. And it was done in record time.”

Ulster Carpets is a leading provider of custom carpets for the marine industry and to date has designed and manufactured bespoke designs for some of the world’s most renowned ships such as Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth and Regent Seven Seas Explorer.  This latest marine project has been another huge success and Ulster is proud to play a part in the re-inspiration of this truly remarkable ship.
