The Story

Every year millions of Muslims make their pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Jabal Omar Development is situated directly beside the Grand Mosque and provides a range of accommodation and facilities for pilgrims and visitors to the city.

Jabal Omar Development is a large scale development comprising 40 towers situated on top of 16 structural bases with a total built-up area of approximately two million square metres. It is home to a mix of residential apartments, prayer areas, malls and hotels. Each of the hotels has been positioned to maximise views over the Grand Mosque.

Jabal Omar Hilton Makkah Convention Hotel

The 5 star Jabal Omar Hilton Makkah Convention Hotel offers awe-inspiring views over Makkah. Working with global interior architecture firm Wilson Associates, Ulster Carpets designed and manufactured over 25000m² of custom axminster carpet for the hotel’s Presidential Suite and guestrooms.

Inspired by modern and traditional Islamic design, the interior scheme combines contemporary elegance with luxurious finishes. Simple yet elegant geometric shapes adorn the carpet in the guestrooms. In the Presidential Suite the carpet features a delicate design in a lighted colour palette creating  a tranquil oasis for guests.

Jabal Omar Marriott Hotel

This hotel is owned by Jabal  Omar Development Company and managed by Marriott International Hotels and Resorts. This 5 star hotel overlooks the Grand Mosque and has a total of 426 spacious, contemporary rooms and suites. The hotel’s opulent interior scheme invites guests to relax in luxury surroundings with excellent views of the city’s holiest site.

Ulster Carpets collaborated with award-winning interior architecture and design firm ForrestPerkins to create over 13000m² of carpet for the guestrooms and suites in the Jabal Omar Marriott Hotel. The elegant carpet design features shapes based on Islamic architecture in warm colours that look beautiful and feel luxuriously soft.

The 5 star Jabal Omar Hilton Suites Makkah boasts panoramic views over the holy city.

Once again Ulster Carpets worked with ForrestPerkins to produce more than 10000m² of carpet for this hotel’s guest suites. The hotel’s interior scheme reflects elements from local culture and features rich textures and fine furnishings. The patterned carpet creates a sense of warmth and comfort complimenting the neutral elements of the hotel’s contemporary interior scheme.
