The Story

The Residence Inn by Marriott, Aberdeen, boasts a modern environment which required the expertise of a carpet supplier who has led the way in terms of design, innovation and manufacturing.

Ulster worked with Glasgow-based, leading architect and interior design company ICA to design over 3500 square metres of carpet for this well-known brand’s Aberdeen hotel. The carpets create a sharp stylish look which runs throughout the building, linking all areas through bold geometric shapes and coastal colours.

Drawing on details from the nearby historic landmark Marischal College, the carpets incorporate geometric motifs inspired by the College’s ornate ceilings. The colour palette features blues, greys and yellows reflecting the Granite City’s coastal location.

The public areas of the hotel feature rugs with distressed herringbone patterns, while in the corridors blue and yellow geometric shapes overlay grey herringbone patterns leading to the guestrooms.

Inside the guestrooms, blue geometric motifs are layered over warm greys with hints of yellow to add warmth and additional depth. In the living areas of the suites striking bold rugs form a focal point. These stylish rugs have a strong interlocking geometric design which is softened by an intricate white lace overlay.
