12.10.21 - Wool. The Natural Choice. | The Natural Benefits of Wool

Nature is woven into every Ulster carpet.

Every one of our carpets contains at least 80% wool while we also offer two 100% wool ranges – Natural Choice and Open Spaces.

Natural Choice Axminster, Jura.

Using 100% natural, undyed wool to minimise the impact on the environment, the Natural Choice range is made by blending high-quality wool from different sheep breeds to create a broad colour bank of entirely natural colours

Open Spaces is a loop pile carpet and each design within the collection shares the same natural composition of 100% wool to create a softness and warmth that is indicative of wool.

Across our range, Ulster’s wool-rich carpets make the most of the natural benefits of this sustainable resource.

Not only is wool a rapidly renewable material but it has inherent natural properties that make it the perfect choice for flooring.

Each fibre is remarkably elastic and flexible, giving a wool-rich carpet high levels of durability and resilience. The scaly, overlapping outer coating also helps contain dirt high in the pile, which can then be hoovered up easily by vacuuming.

Wool’s natural characteristics can also benefit people with asthma or allergies.

The outer layer not only traps dirt but also reduces airborne dust. Wool is also unsuited to dust mites and it does not promote bacteria growth. Adding to the material’s health and hygiene characteristics is the fact that wool naturally absorbs humidity and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) to produce a cleaner, more comfortable living environment.
