Make with Purpose
From carefully chosen materials to responsible manufacturing, discover how every step plays a part in creating carpets made with purpose.
Across our manufacturing process, we continually look for ways to reduce waste, recover resources and make better use of the materials we work with. Today, our manufacturing site operates with zero waste to landfill, with every material following the most appropriate recovery route.
Where possible, materials are reused within the Ulster Group. Wool waste and suitable yarns are returned to our recycling facility, where they are transformed into new underlay products, allowing valuable fibres to continue contributing long after their original purpose has been fulfilled.
We also work with local schools, charities and community organisations to give suitable materials a second life through creative and educational projects. Where materials cannot be reused or recycled, they are recovered for energy, ensuring as little as possible goes to waste.
Alongside these initiatives, we continue to improve the way we manufacture by recovering heat and water within our dyehouse, investing in more efficient equipment and continually looking for new ways to reduce our environmental impact.
To help turn our ambitions into measurable progress, we set ourselves a series of environmental targets for 2025. These targets guide our investment and help us track the improvements we're making across our business. Some of the progress we've made is shown below.
