Our Strategy

Our EVOLVE sustainability strategy underlines our long-term objective of becoming a Net Zero manufacturer.

Underpinning our proven history of creating innovative and responsible manufacturing solutions, our strategy defines our ongoing sustainability journey by highlighting what we have already achieved and, more importantly, our future targets. Our sustainability journey has shown how we are determined to EVOLVE. From the simple concept of using wool to the more complex steps of developing energy-efficient manufacturing and reducing waste, we continue to adapt and change.

Our Impact

As pioneers of the flooring industry, Ulster Carpets are committed to providing a sustainable business for future generations.

For over 85 years, sustainability and efficiency have been an important part of our history. Inspired by the forward-thinking ethos of our company founder, George Walter Wilson, our Sustainability Strategy recognises the need for investment in both people and processes. Our commitment to continue this journey and EVOLVE will build upon our strong sustainability foundations and ensure we take the necessary steps to becoming a Net Zero manufacturer.

Our
Standards

Exemplified by our proven history of innovation, EVOLVE incorporates our products, our people, and our manufacturing process. This ensures we can match the high standards our customers come to expect.

This strategy places an emphasis on combining natural materials with the latest in energy efficient manufacturing processes.

Benefits of wool

Every Ulster carpet is made from at least 80% wool – a rapidly renewable and sustainable material.

The use of wool is one of the cornerstones of our EVOLVE sustainability strategy. The natural characteristics of this high-quality raw material are enhanced by the Axminster weaving processes, making our carpets perfect for hospitality settings. Rapidly renewable, biodegradable, carbon sequestering, this natural raw material delivers high performance, low maintenance and long term durability.
