Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club, Co Cavan

Weddings and corporate events at Slieve Russell Hotel have been enriched by the addition of luxury flooring from Ulster Carpets in the venue’s beautiful Cranaghan Suite.

Ulster designed and manufactured bespoke carpet as part of a complete refurbishment of the state-of-the-art facilities at the four-star hotel.

Continuing a successful relationship with Clarke & Whiteman Architecture & Interiors – specialists in architecture, interior design and artwork for the hospitality industry – our team created an impressive design that matches the hotel’s signature style.

The venue is a popular wedding venue and is frequently used for corporate events. Located within 300 acres of Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, Slieve Russell enjoys a wonderfully tranquil setting and Ulster’s bespoke design takes its cue from these beautiful surroundings.

The carpet’s muted colour palette of grey and blue sweeps in from the pre-function area to the impressive main function room. Whether the Cranaghan Suite is being used for a wedding, conference, exhibition, awards ceremony or even a car launch, the carpet design provides a focal point that immediately draws the eye.

Harmonising perfectly with this stylish setting, the floor design is carefully balanced by features such as the chandeliers and soft furnishings that beautifully blend together in a subtle yet visually engaging way.

The carpet’s strong aesthetic appeal includes a layered effect that creates added depth and texture that is matched by the added durability found in all of Ulster’s contract carpets.

As reflected in this project, we have matched the quality of our bespoke carpets with the strong relationships our experienced team has built up with interior design firms, architectural studios, managers and owners. This has ensured Ulster continues to work on prestigious projects within the hospitality, casino and marine sectors across the world.

Bespoke Ulster carpet in the Ritz-Carlton Berlin Hotel.

Ritz-Carlton Berlin

The glamour and lavishness of the 1920s has inspired the spectacular €40million renovation of the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Berlin, which has been enhanced by the inclusion of bespoke Ulster carpets.

Recapturing the essence of the 1920s and Art Deco architecture, this meticulous revamp reflects the chic design and creativity of the city’s film and cabaret heyday alongside Berlin’s place as a modern, cosmopolitan city.

Epitomised by a sophisticated colour palette that blends champagne, chrome and muted grey, Ulster’s design team infused the exciting vision of acclaimed interior design firm, G.A Group, into the carpet design.

The three-dimensional aesthetic of the flowing carpet and rug design perfectly harmonises with the distinctive architectural features throughout the hotel. Ulster’s bespoke carpets are found in the Social Study, Den of Heaven and Fragrances Bar while bespoke rugs enhance the concierge area and atrium.

While alternating colourways have been used in these various areas, the continuity of design naturally draws guests into the hotel and sets the perfect tone for this luxurious setting.

The Ritz-Carlton Berlin showcases Ulster’s ability to marry echoes of the past with more modern elements to create a clear definition of style and culture.

With a long-standing reputation for providing the superior durability that is essential within the hospitality sector, the company’s patented weaving system, PSYLO™ continues to put Ulster at a distinct advantage.

Combining originality with excellence, PSYLO™ enables carpet to be manufactured to a greater degree of design intricacy, an enhanced spectrum of colour and at an unrivalled level of efficiency.

Hotel Indigo Chester

Past and present collide in a kaleidoscope of colour at Hotel Indigo Chester.

Ulster Carpets collaborated with Franklin Ellis Architects, Nottingham to create a range of bespoke carpets and rugs for this stylish, contemporary hotel located in the heart of the historic City of Chester.

Opened in 2019, this brand new contemporary boutique hotel offers 75 stunning guest rooms. The hotel also includes Wood Chester Bar and Restaurant, which is owned and run by 2015 MasterChef Champion, Simon Wood.

Taking inspiration from the city’s famous architecture, Roman influence and the iconic Chester Races, Ulster Carpets designed and manufactured a range of bespoke carpets and rugs that fit perfectly into the individualistic aesthetic of Hotel Indigo Chester.

In the meeting room, a scene showing ladies at the Chester Races has been reproduced on the luxury axminster carpet while, in the corridors, an intricate Roman design that replicates a mosaic tile aesthetic has been created. These are complemented by the subtle tones in the stairs carpet.

In line with Hotel Indigo Chester’s interior design style, a variety of different rug designs have been created for the bar areas and the bedrooms. These rug designs have taken traditional styles and transformed them into a contemporary look in a range of colours.

This attention to detail is just one of the many reasons that Ulster Carpets remains so successful in the UK hospitality market.

The key factor behind this success is the company’s high levels of customer service. A dedicated sales team works closely with hotel owners, managers and interior designers to create unique carpet designs that match their interior vision. With an understanding that no two clients are alike, the highly experienced sales and design team at Ulster Carpets provides expert advice and guidance to meet your specific requirements on design and durability.

From an independent to a five-star hotel group as well as styles ranging from boutique to business, Ulster’s unique capabilities has ensured high levels of repeat business on a wide variety of projects.

Ponant Explorers

Renowned architect and interior designer, Jean-Philippe Nuel, has used bespoke designs from Ulster Carpets as part of his signature style for a new fleet of unique yachts. Here, he outlines his inspiration:

“The Ponant Cruise ships of the range Explorer are high end ships inspired by private yachts. For these Cruise ships the luxury feeling comes from the small number of cabins limited to 80. Thanks to their small size these ships can reach unique anchorage areas, very close to towns, local people or just nature.

“This ethical dimension has inspired the carpet designs of the ships which come in various colour schemes. Graphics are not representing any special place in the world but on the contrary are inspired by a common vocabulary which leads to a ‘casual luxury’ more than ostentatious.”

Seven Seas Navigator

The elegant style and intimate luxury of the Seven Seas Navigator has been reimagined during a complete bow-to-stern makeover that includes bespoke designs from Ulster Carpets.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has been undertaking a US$150 million fleet modernisation and the 450-guest Seven Seas Navigator now includes beautiful new interiors and furnishings that match the distinct individual style of the ship while ensuring a consistency within the fleet.

Working closely with Studio Dado, Ulster created an array of new carpet designs for every area of the Seven Seas Navigator, ranging from the stairs, atrium, corridors and bridge through to the ship’s selection of restaurants and entertainment facilities.

With distinctly different designs for each area, the team at Ulster Carpets has also managed to create a flowing continuity that seamlessly takes guests from one space to the next. Central to this is a gently imposing colour palette of blues, greys and golds that uses alternating accent colours and differentiating designs in each area to great effect.

The notable changes within Prime7, the ship’s contemporary American steakhouse, is a perfect example of this. Rich blues have been teamed with an intricate pattern of grey and gold to create a carpet design that immediately draws the eye. The contemporised style of this carpet creates a signature look that tones in wonderfully with classically styled furnishings.

This gold, grey and blue colour scheme creates a sense of continuity throughout the Seven Seas Navigator. For example, in the atrium, stairs and corridors, the accent grey is given a sense of depth with an interspersed geometric design and mottled splashes of blue and gold.

The curve and flow of the bar and stage inspires the carpet design in the Star Lounge while variations of a star burst theme are central to the style in the Spa and Navigation Lounge. This is augmented by more regimented yet equally eye-catching patterns in the Compass Rose Restaurant, Casino and the Card and Meeting Room.

The creative talents of the design team at Ulster Carpets are clearly on show on the Seven Seas Navigator, as the all-encompassing approach takes guests on a journey that accentuates the overall aesthetics of this prestigious ships.

“When guests step on board Seven Seas Navigator, they will find she continues to reflect Regent’s elegant style and famous attention to detail that fashionably honours her heritage as a beloved, intimate luxury ship,” said Jason Montague, president and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “Seven Seas Navigator now reflects the consistent look and feel of our fleet, but with special touches that make her distinctly unique.”

Titanic Hotel, Liverpool

The industrial heritage of Liverpool’s award-winning Titanic Hotel is the inspiration behind a new carpet by Ulster Carpets for the venue’s impressive function room.

Taking its cue from the historic surroundings, the design features an array of industrial cogs that would have been an integral part of the ships that once lined the city’s famous Stanley Dock, where the Titanic Hotel is located.

The former warehouse is one of the city’s most historic buildings and it has been completely transformed to revitalise what was a derelict part of Liverpool. Retaining the character of the building has been central to the hotel’s success and Ulster continued that theme with the carpet design for the Rum Warehouse function room.

Enhancing the floor to ceiling glazing and dockside views, Ulster has added to the inspirational space with an intricate, three-dimensional design that echoes the dockside history of the building.

The design defines Ulster’s eye for detail and an ability to turn inspiration into reality. The creative talents of Ulster’s design team are enhanced by PSYLO™. This patented weaving technology enables carpet to be manufactured to a greater degree of design intricacy, an enhanced spectrum of colour and at an unrivalled level of efficiency.

With complete control over every aspect of the design and manufacturing process, Ulster’s fit to space design capabilities create bespoke carpet to perfectly match large spaces such as the Rum Warehouse.

InterContinental Lyon – Hôtel Dieu

Ulster Carpets worked closely with Jean-Philippe Nuel to realise the highly respected architect and interior designer’s vision for the carpet at the new InterContinental Lyon – Hôtel Dieu. Below he outlines his inspiration for the carpet:

“The Ballroom carpet at Intercontinental Hotel-Dieu in Lyon is part of the main renovation of this building from the 18th century built by Soufflot.

“This building, which was a hospital in the past, had several interior courtyards. Some of these courtyards were displaying medicinal gardens – a theme that inspired the design created for this custom made carpet.”

“La moquette du Ballroom de l’Intercontinental Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon se replace dans le cadre de la réhabilitation générale de ce bâtiment du XVIIIème siècle construit par Soufflot.

Saadiyat Rotana, Abu Dhabi

The luxury of bespoke axminster from Ulster Carpets has added to the exclusive nature and opulent beauty of the new Saadiyat Rotana Resort and Villas in Abu Dhabi.

Set alongside pristine white beaches, this meticulously planned resort radiates an extravagance and elegance that befits a stunning natural island that also features the Louvre Abu Dhabi and will soon include the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi as well as the Zayed National Museum.

The striking, modern Arabic architecture of the Saadiyat Rotana Resort and Villas adds a regal presence that sits perfectly beside flawless beaches and uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf.

Working closely with KCA International Dubai – the interior designers behind the world-renowned Burj Al Arab – Ulster created distinctive carpet designs for the corridors, ballroom, pre-function room and meeting rooms that match this opulent setting.

The ballroom takes centre stage and showcases Ulster’s ability to create three dimensional elements within a carpet design. Intricate detailing in muted undertones is overlaid by free-form brush strokes that add a splash of colour to the carpet. Emanating an unrivalled sense of luxury and superlative attention to detail, the carpet sweeps in from the pre-function room to create a sense of drama in the ballroom.

Whether it is the flowing nature of the feature wall art, the eclectic elegance of the chandeliers or the subtlety of the mood lighting, you can find hints of the carpet design throughout the ballroom. Elements of these different layers of texture have been used as inspiration for the carpet designs in the corridors and meetings rooms, providing an understated continuity throughout the resort.

This project, which continues a successful partnership between Rotana Hotel Management Corporation and Ulster, is another example of the design sophistication that can be created in a carpet.

Ulster’s unique PSYLO™ weaving technology enables carpet to be manufactured to a greater degree of design intricacy, using an enhanced spectrum of colour at an unrivalled level of efficiency – all of which are on display at the Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas.

With an office in the Middle East, Ulster continues to enjoy high levels of repeat business within the region’s hospitality sector by offering high levels of customer service.

W Hotel, Muscat

Set in a coastal haven along the Arabian Sea, the luxurious W Hotel Muscat continues the successful trends of this innovative hotel brand that sets out to redefine revelry for the modern jet set.

Like other W Hotels across the world – ranging from the Mediterranean and the Maldives to South Beach and Shanghai – Muscat has the passions of music, fuel, fashion and designs at its heart.

The W Hotel Muscat provides a contemporary take on interior design that has been beautifully integrated with Omani heritage. Ulster has tapped into these themes to create bespoke carpet designs for this five-star hotel.

Showcasing Ulster’s versatility, the guestrooms, corridors, meeting rooms and the ballroom all feature bespoke axminster carpets while the lobby and all day dining area both include handtufted carpets.

Local influences are clearly evident in carpet designs that also reflect the natural beauty of this part of Oman, including the tranquility of the Arabian Sea and the ruggedness of the Al Hajar Mountains.

Arguably the most striking carpet design is in the main ballroom. Here, Omani inspired patterns in turquoise and aqua blues, interspersed with hints of taupe, perfectly link floor and ceiling in majestic fashion. This sweeping design is mirrored by a stunning display of chandeliers that dramatically drop from the ceiling.

In the corridors and guestrooms, this Omani influence has been transformed into a striking aesthetic echoing themes from the ballroom design. Curved, repetitive forms ripple from strategic points to create a kaleidoscope effect that seamlessly integrates hallways with guestrooms.

Having previously worked on the Crowne Plaza Muscat OCEC, this project represents the second hotel that Ulster Carpets has completed for leading hotel investment company, Omran.

With an office based in the Middle East, Ulster enjoys high levels of repeat business within the region’s hospitality sector thanks to the company’s patented weaving technology, an experienced design team and a first class sales service.

Central to this success is the fact that Ulster controls every aspect of the manufacturing process. This ranges from sourcing the highest quality wool and spinning and dyeing the yarn through to the bespoke design and weaving of the finest axminster and wilton carpets.

This is combined with the talents of a creative design team who are able to utilise the advantages of PSYLO™ – Ulster’s unique weaving technology that offers unlimited design possibilities without the need for a repeating pattern.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Chicago

The newly transformed Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago, which now includes bespoke designs by Ulster Carpets, takes inspiration from the vibrancy of the Windy City and the Great Lake that lies just beyond.

The renovations reveal a sophisticated yet playful base for urban adventurers, including both first time visitors and those who are drawn to the Windy City again and again. The overall vision by the Gettys Group, a leading hotel design and development firm, was to create an aesthetic that reflects the dynamism and personality of the Loop, where the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago is based.

Chicago’s official Downtown area, the Loop has become an eclectic urban playground, where business, culture and abundant greenspace all converge to create a bustling waterfront cityscape. Gettys Group drew inspiration from this diverse mix of communities, with the renovation incorporating a bespoke design from Ulster for the corridors of this 192-bedroom hotel.

The new-look hotel corridors are characterised by a palette of black and white offset by menswear-inspired details that range from feather-shaped brass light fixtures to floral shades – the latter of which has been incorporated into the tailored carpet.

A layered, symmetrical design in mottled greys and blacks is interspersed with bold, large scale, abstract flowers to act as a gateway into the revitalised guestrooms and suites. These floral features have been carefully positioned in key corridor locations, adding a splash of colour that further animates the interior style.

The customised detail in the new carpet for the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago is only made possible by the high levels of design and manufacturing experience by Ulster.

The knowledge of a team of highly skilled designers is combined with the patented PSYLO™ technology from Ulster to offer almost unlimited design possibilities without the need for a repeating pattern.

With a long-standing reputation for providing the superior durability and colour retention levels that are essential within the hospitality sector, Ulster has combined these bespoke design capabilities with an ability to manufacture the highest quality axminster carpets.
