The Story

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel, utilised the limitless design expertise of Ulster Carpets for the ground-breaking Norwegian Prima.

The first in a new class of ships designed to elevate every expectation, Norwegian Prima embodies NCL’s ethos of breaking the boundaries of traditional cruising.

With the highest staffing levels and space ratio of any contemporary or premium cruise ship, it is the first of six ships in the brand’s ground-breaking Prima Class. At 965 feet (294 meters long) and more than 143,535 tons, Norwegian Prima has capacity for 3,100 guests at double occupancy.

She also boasts the largest variety of suite categories available at sea and a new definition of ‘The Haven by Norwegian’ – NCL’s ultra-premium, keycard only access, ship-within-a-ship concept.

Helping to meet the highest levels of expectation from guests, Ulster Carpets worked with Tillberg Design of Sweden, SMC Design, Rockwell Group and Lissoni & Partners across a range of defined areas on Norwegian Prima.

Our long-term relationships with these respected interior designers helped to define the unique style of Norwegian Prima.

Thanks to our patented weaving technology, PSYLO™, we can offer limitless design possibilities; allowing the interior design teams to incorporate colourful patterns and stylish tones into every area of this luxury experience.

Norwegian Prima embodies The Art of Ulster. This concept is based around utilising the large canvas that flooring offers to create distinctive designs that resonate with guests. By combining the talents of our world-class carpet designers with a weaving technology that is unique to Ulster, The Art of Ulster delivers unrivalled options.
