The Story

Ulster Carpets have once again returned to work with Pierre-Yves Rochon on the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, creating a range of bespoke carpets and rugs for the iconic hotel.

Inaugurated in 1862 under Napoleon III, the 5-star hotel is a historical setting where guests experience the French art of living in a sumptuous Second Empire décor.

We have already completed work on the breath-taking ballroom, as detailed below, and, for the latest phase of the restoration, the focus was on Café de la Paix and La Verrière as well as the guestrooms, suites and corridors.

CAFÉ DE LA PAIX AND LA VERRIÈRE

The final phase of an ambitious restoration, the latest renaissance of Café de la Paix and La Verrière by Pierre-Yves Rochon includes bespoke carpet and rugs from Ulster Carpets.

A true institution within the hotel, the Café de la Paix is an essential place in Parisian life where the great classics of French gastronomy are in the spotlight. Known for its beautiful glass roof, La Verrière is found in the heart of the hotel and is equally as popular.

Matching the timeless décor, a classic design in delicate green has been used for these areas, complemented by neutral, traditional-style rugs.

GUESTROOMS AND SUITES

Our bespoke carpet in the guestrooms and suites provide a subtle foundation for Pierre-Yves Rochon to build upon.

Offering the ultimate luxury, the relaxing play of light and shade is perfect for The City of Light. With each room and suite creating a distinctive look and feel, our designers have been able to tailor our carpets to match the desired ambience.

This is particularly apparent in the various suites, which have all been designed as bright Parisian apartments. Combining French chic with the ultimate in comfort, our carpets embody the 5-Star characteristics of this world-class hotel.

BALLROOM

Working closely with Paris design house, Pierre-Yves Rochon, Ulster created an Axminster masterpiece to take centre stage in the ballroom at the Intercontinental Paris, Le Grand Hotel.

The hotel, located in the centre of this romantic city, defines historical grandeur and the Opéra ballroom has been at the heart of Parisian society for decades.

Ulster designers worked with Pierre-Yves Rochon to create a bespoke Axminster design that mirrored the breathtaking painted ceiling, including the central focal point which houses the extravagant chandelier.

A beautiful marbling effect delicately frames different elements of the intricate design, mimicking the elegant columns surrounding the room. The lavish patterns combine beautiful salmon pinks, pastel blues, pale greens and luscious golds to create a magnificent spectacle fit for this iconic 5-star venue.
